Flamenco Vivo will perform on October 2 as part of the Dance in Albany series. The company will also perform on October 4 & 5 for high school student groups. All of these performances will be preceded by An Evening of Flamenco Music and Film. Scheduled for October 1, the program will feature a solo set by Flamenco guitarist Maria Zemantauski followed by a screening of Flamenco Vivo’s 6Hilos (6 Threads) which pays homage to the Golden Age of flamenco. A meet and greet the artists will culminate the evening.
Movement artist Kris Seto will team up with visual artist Michelle Y. Lee for The Tip of the Tongue, a collaborative site-specific dance piece, that will premiere on December 2. The commissioned work excavates the invisible forces and walls of assimilation and uses as its inspiration Lee’s neon work “I am the Signal; You are the Wave” that is part of Well/Being, the current exhibit at the University Art Museum.
ChoreoPhysics: Demonstrating Concepts through Dance, a collaborative performance specifically for high school students on March 24, 2022 between UAlbany Physics professor Keith Earle and local choreographer Ellen Sinopoli will be equal parts lecture, demonstration, performance, and discussion focusing on more than a dozen laws of physics and deeply intertwining science and dance.
