Adaptive Learning Workshop with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago

Join the renowned Hubbard Street Dance Chicago for a special one-hour dance class for adults (ages 16 and up) with varied abilities. Led by HSDC Teaching Artist Anne Kasdorf, this Adaptive Learning Workshop is centered on HSDC Education’s philosophy that the art of dance is for everyone. Through accessible movement patterns and pathways, dancers will engage in kinesthetic learning using exploratory elements of Creative Dance using specific supports scaffolded for their learning of new and meaningful ways to self-express.
Registered students are asked to check in between 5:30 and 5:45pm. Class will take place from 6-7pm.
Young Professional Dancers Workshop with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago

- The 1:45pm Interactive Demonstration is reserved for workshop registrants only PLUS one guest. One friend or family member is permitted to accompany each registrant to the demonstration.

The workshop will focus on curriculum design, exploring effective strategies for building accessible dance learning curricula using concept-based, developmentally appropriate dance vocabulary, lessons, and activities for students that promotes engagement & connection to the world around them.

PROGRAM: Hubbard Street Dance Chicago ends their residency at SPAC with a dynamic lecture/demonstration from the Artistic Team and Dancers, delving into the creative process of Darrell Grand Moultrie’s Dichotomy of a Journey. Interspersed with excerpts from the piece, the evening’s program will touch on how Moultrie’s piece, while partially inspired by the feelings of isolation brought about by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately celebrates our shared humanity and connectedness. Program duration will be approximately 75 minutes.
